The Parallel Players : The Art of Play
Tas Wansbrough reviews The Parallel Players, the debut exhibition of the artist group by Lauren Matthews, Emily Van Der Molen and Robyn Fisher, now showing at the Old Butchers Shop Gallery.
Through iconic childhood toys, stitched text and selected material choices, the artists examine play as a survival strategy, a site of memory, identity and autonomy. This review explores the complex narratives of nostalgia, consumer culture, creative resilience and the power of parallel play in adulthood.
On exhibition until 1 March 2026 in Soldiers Hill, Ballarat.
